Organizations team up to brew new festival in South Boston
Halifax Tourism and Destination Downtown South Boston have
announced the debut of SoBo Brew Fest, a one-day craft beer festival that will
showcase some of the best beers from breweries in Virginia and across the nation. The event
will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Constitution Square at 432 Main Street in Downtown South Boston.
More than 40 different kinds of beer will be featured from
breweries in Virginia
and across the country. Each brewery will showcase their finest creations, serving
two to four different beers for tasting.
“We are excited to partner with Destination Downtown South
Boston and Blue Ridge Beverage to debut this festival,” stated Linda Shepperd,
director of tourism for Halifax
County . “We have a real
opportunity to bring visitors from across the state and from neighboring states
to Halifax County for this festival. Craft beer
tastings are popular throughout the country and have a large following. We look
forward to welcoming connoisseurs to novices to folks who want to enjoy a new
experience to our community and to this event.“
Festivalgoers may purchase tickets at three levels—VIP
($45); General Admission ($25) or Designated Driver ($10). Each ticket includes
admission to the festival, a commemorative festival glass (while supplies
last), access to food trucks and live music. VIP and general admission tickets
come with 25 and 15, tasting tickets, respectively, that can be redeemed for a
3 oz. sample or combining three for a pint of beer. Festivalgoers can purchase
additional tasting tickets.
Tickets are available in advance at the South Boston-Halifax
County Visitor
Center or online at
www.gohalifaxva.com/sobo-brewfest or at the door (if not sold out).
In addition to beer and food trucks, SoBo Brew Fest will
feature live entertainment by local and regional bands.
“Bring your friends and take a day to tap into the fun,”
Shepperd said.
